I've been a Mercedes enthusiast for as long as I can remember. My connection to the brand began early—my mother worked at the Mercedes-Benz dealership in Seattle at a time when very few women did. As a teenager, I worked there myself, cleaning cars and delivering them to customers. My appreciation for the craftsmanship, engineering, and attention to detail that define Mercedes has deep roots.

Over the years, I've owned many Mercedes vehicles, including two SLs. Like many owners, I experienced the frustrating issue of a delaminated parking button—something that looks especially out of place in a in a premium vehicle. When I asked the dealer about replacing it, I was told the solution required replacing the entire center console, at a cost of approximately $2,200 for parts and labor.

That didn't sit right with me. Replacing an entire console for a single button felt excessive, so the journey began to find a better solution.
